First Craving
Tuesday, October 19, 2010

Ok I thought these pictures would upload the opposite way so the bottom one is 8 weeks, the middle is 10, and the top is 12. I might be pushing out just a little :) The pictures make it look bigger than it is too but there is definately a little bump. Last week was my first appointment and the week before that we went to tour Bella Natal. It was really nice, especially the tub!! There was a birth happening so we didn't get to see the whole thing but I'm really excited to deliver there, unless we move. Everything about it is very calming and it will be really nice to have the space all to ourselves. It's basically a bedroom with a big bathroom, a kitchen, and a living room thats really a waiting room but it looks just like a living room. So its kinda like a home birth at someone else's house :) My appointment went good. I was still too early to hear the heartbeat which was a little disappointing but we'll get it next time. Other than that I just did a pee test and got weighed and then sat around and talked for about an hour. My midwife has an assistant who is training and I was a little leery about that at first but I really like her. Her name is Liz and she's from Australia and where Cathy is more calm, she is more excited and bubbly and I think I will like having both aspects. Other than that nothing much has happened. I feel great, the tired-ness isn't bothering me as much and as long as I don't let myself get too hungry I don't have any problems with being sick. I will admit though that my belly just looks like pudge at this point, so I'm excited to get just a little bigger so you can tell it's a baby.
The beginning
9-21-10
I guess I’ll just start at the day we found out we were expecting. Well actually lets go back a day before that. I had missed my period but didn’t want Aaron to think I was being paranoid so Friday August 27th I went to Walgreens while he was at work and got the cheapest pregnancy test I could find. I ran home and ripped one open only to find I couldn’t generate enough pee to make it work. I figured it probably wasn’t reliable anymore and threw it away. I waited and waited till I felt like I could go pee again and used the second one. It was about 15 minutes before Aaron would get home and I couldn’t tell if it was a positive or a negative. I could see a faint blue line but I wasn’t sure if that was just because it was wet or if it was a positive. So when Aaron got home I admitted that I got over anxious and bought a test but I couldn’t tell it if was negative or positive. He looked at it and couldn’t tell either. The next day we were doing our Saturday grocery shopping and I wanted to buy another one but Aaron said we should wait a few more days to make sure my period didn’t come. But I couldn’t wait so we bought one, and this time it was digital so it just said pregnant or not pregnant. That way we could be sure. I had planned on waiting till the next morning to take it because the prego hormone is supposed to be more concentrated in your first morning pee. But again I couldn’t wait that long so I took a test. Aaron and I just sat in the bathroom as a little hourglass symbol flashed, letting us know the test was working. And then one little word popped on the screen….pregnant! I just said “oh” and looked at Aaron to see how he was reacting. I was a little nervous that he wouldn’t be too happy because he had just been saying a few days before that that he would not feel ready if we got pregnant and that he really wanted to have the first one planned. Luckily Aaron just hugged me and was really positive and supportive about it. That night I went to the Lion King with the girls and told Danielle, even thought I wasn’t supposed to, but I was about to burst and had to tell someone. She was really excited. A few weeks later we went to meet with Cathy O’Bryant and decided she would be a good choice for us. Since then we have just been waiting for our first real appointment when we get to hear the heartbeat and things become a little more real. The morning sickness kicked in last week but it hasn’t been too bad. We are already talking to our little fetus and debating if it’s a boy or girl. Aaron says girl, and I honestly don’t know, but I’ll be happy with whatever. We keep track weekly of what our baby is doing and looking like. This week it is a little blueberry developing fingers and toes! I can’t wait until I can feel it moving inside me and start to get a cute little prego belly! I’m already so in love with my baby and and so glad and God has trusted us to be parents of one of his children. I’m also so greatful for Aaron and how supportive and understanding he is, especially when I feel yucky and don’t want to cook or clean or do any of my wifey duties. He is such a caring and laid back person and I love that about him. Well, if anything new happens I’ll make sure to post it.
